Quote from "Stepping Heavenward" by Mrs. E. Prentiss

"She says I shall now have one mouth more to fill and two feet the more to shoe, more disturbed nights, more laborious days, and less leisure or visiting, reading, music and drawing.

Well! This is one side of the story, to be sure, but I look at the other.

Here is a sweet, fragrant mouth to kiss; here are two more feet to make music with their pattering about my nursery. Here is a soul to train for God; and the body in which dwells is worthy of all it will cost, since it is the abode of a kingly tenant. I may see less of friends, but I have gained one dearer than them all, to whom, while I minister in Christ's name, I make a willing sacrifice of what little leisure for my own recreation my other dear darlings had left me. Yes, my precious baby, you are welcome to her time, her strength, her health, her tenderest cares, to her lifelong prayers! Oh, how rich I am, how truly, wondrously blest!"

Fall is Coming

Although it's still warm outside, it's only been in the 90's and not the 100's and you get the sense that fall is on its way!  Perhaps it's the school supplies covering the shelves in the stores or the school buses on the streets or because I know Labor Day weekend is this weekend or even that "Arts in the Heart" will be here soon.  Whatever it is, our whole family is excited that fall is approaching.  We're looking forward to football, windows open, fresh bread with soup or chili, blue jeans, hoodies, camp fires, etc.  However, I want to relish each day and not rush through any of it.  The days go so fast already that I don't want to miss a thing.

Since I last wrote, Timothy broke his arm skim boarding on our last beach trip of the year.

He had it reset in NC but one of the 2 bones didn't stay in place.  Therefore, they did surgery here in Augusta and his arm ended up looking like this inside when they finished.

We were pretty nervous about the amount of pain he would be in.  He was determined not to miss night 3 of the "4 nights in August" that the youth were involved in.  God has been so good and has really been Timothy's healer.  He hasn't been in too much pain and has gotten by with just a little motrin each day.  He didn't miss any of the youth conference and has been such a trooper.  Now he is using it as an excuse to not have to write too much in school and I've been letting him for the most part.  I've become his secretary.

As the seasons change, may we each be reminded to be encouraged in the Lord during changes we pass through in this life.  Nothing takes Him by surprise and we can trust that He will be with us through it all.  He is faithful.

Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly, teaching and admonishing one another in all wisdom, singing psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, with thankfulness in your hearts to God.    Colossians 3:16
